The aim of this study was to analyze the meaning of anglers’ leisure careers in seeking their serious leisure by employing
phenomenological method and to concretely grasp the structure of their psychological changes represented in the process of
accumulating their leisure careers. Based on the analysis, this study have found a result as follows. Fishing tended to begin with
people’s curiosity, followed by a next step of seeking their own unique fishing styles. Also those who were mesmerized with
fishing’s irresistible attractiveness could experience sustainability, thereby feeling addictiveness as a fishing maniac. In general,
addictiveness typified a conflict resulting from much consumption of time and money. Henceforward they sensed the supreme
pleasure as feeling a sense of belonging in the fishing circles. In addition, it suggested that they tried to change their fishing
carriers as physical and economic burden on them in order to sustain angling is greater, an experience that helped to draw a
concept of a sense of reality. The sense of reality meant that they attempted to find an alternative to continue fishing through
their leisure carrier gained from it. It is hoped that this result would provide a framework to be able to enrich the academic
discussion with reference to the leisure carriers of amateur leisure activities out of serious leisure.
