The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among serious leisure,
physical self-concept and self-achievement for female college soccer participants. To
achieve the goal of this study, a total of 223 surveys were collected from female
college soccer participants. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted by SPSS
20.0. For the analysis, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability
analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. All tests
were performed using a .05 significance level. The results of this study were as
follows. First, sub-factors of serious leisure among female college soccer participants
had positive effect on appearance, sports competence of physical self-concept.
Second, one of the sub-factors of physical self-concept, health, appearance, sports
competence had positive effect on self-achievement. Third, one of the sub-factors of
serious leisure, personal effort and unique ethos had positive effect on
self-achievement. In conclusion, serious leisure is an important factor that helps
female college students to form positive physical self-concept and gives them an
opportunity to achieve self-realization.
